Residency

Eligibility rules, documentation, and entitlements for residency certificates in Antigua & Barbuda.

Who can apply

Individuals may qualify for a resident permit if they have lawfully and ordinarily lived in Antigua & Barbuda for at least four years, or if they are married to a citizen for one year or more.

Documents to submit

  • Proof of fee payment.
  • Police certificates (local and overseas) covering the last three years.
  • Medical certificate issued by an approved practitioner.
  • Evidence of tax and social security contributions.
  • Passport copies, birth certificate, marriage certificate (if applicable), and any additional documents requested by the Department.

Entitlements

Successful applicants receive a residency certificate allowing them to:

  • Work in Antigua & Barbuda without requiring a separate permit.
  • Include approved dependants on the certificate.

In the event of divorce or the death of the principal holder, dependants must apply in their own right within three months.
